Advance Scaffolder

Purpose & Scope of Advance Scaffolder:

The Advance Scaffolder put up and takes down scaffolding that allows workers to reach the higher levels of buildings during construction, cleaning and renovation projects. The Advance Scaffolder create a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and all other man made structure. The goal is to create and maintain well-functioning scaffolder to minimize the probability of accidents.

General Responsibilities:

Fixing guard rails and safety netting. Taking down the scaffolding after a job is finished. Setting base plates on the ground at regular intervals (these stop the upright poles slipping). Putting up the scaffolding poles (standards) and attaching the horizontal tubes (ledgers) to them with couples. Unloading scaffolding equipment at the site. Fixing the scaffolding to the building or structure to make it more stable, using short ‘tie tubes’. Laying planks (battens) across the scaffolding for workers to walk on.

Advance Scaffolder Responsibilities:

Correctly and safely erect cantilever drop, two-way shore, dead shore, staircase, ramp, tubular drop and temporary roof scaffolds in tube and fitting. Observe regulations governing the safe erection, inspection and dismantling of these scaffolds and the work methods to be adopted. Carry out procedures for producing, interpreting and using risk assessments and methods statements. Use scale rules and scale drawings. Determine the material requirements for cantilever drop, two-way shore, dead shore, staircase, ramp, tubular drop and temporary roof scaffolds in tube and fitting. Lay out materials, interpret design drawings, set out scaffolds and overcome obstacles to erect the scaffold safely. Construct scaffolds to statutory regulations. Setting of anchors and tie testing.
